Welcome to my website and blog!
I live in Glacier View, Alaska, a community of a few hundred people who live near the Matanuska Glacier. We are 100 miles from Anchorage and 50 miles from the nearest store in Palmer. I was born and grew up in Oregon, but the love of a wonderful man brought me north over thirty years ago and keeps me here to this day.
I considered writing a blog only about painting, but I like to share what’s in my garden, even it is a moose, and I experiment with recipes. Then there are some photographs and adventures I’d like to share with you so “Creating in Alaska” covers it all.
I’ve taken your words of encouragement to heart and thought I’d let you know that as of yesterday, I’ve already covered three pages of my once-idle sketchbook. It was a major breakthrough after many years and jumped right into it like, as you said, “toys in the sandbox” 🙂 THANK YOU so much helping me take the first step, Suzie!
Well, isn’t that great? Thank you for sharing that with me. There are times when we HAVE to do something, not for selfish reasons, but because it will hurt somehow if we don’t follow through. I’m excited for you:)
I love your work, and your fun loving spirit! Great inspiration ! Thanks Suzie
Theresa, thank you so much for your kind comments! How nice of you to pop in. I took a look at your site too. Beautiful paintings!
Hey Suzie – I just happened upon your site via Pinterest today. My husband and I lived in Anchorage and worked on the train over several summers. We love and miss Alaska to this day and dream of returning one day to live. Thank you for posting your sketches and paintings. You are a great inspiration for someone who wishes to learn how to watercolor paint.
Pamela, so nice of you to stop by and comment. If you ever make a trip to Alaska, please let me know. I’d love to have you stop by. Enjoy the process of learning. The web is a great place to learn along with your library. Enjoy!
